Simultaneous interpretation, briefly defined

Simultaneous interpretation is a process of oral translation that happens in real time. The speaker speaks without interruption, while the interpreter simultaneously translates the speaker’s words into another language for a specific listener or audience.

The two languages implicated in an interpretation are referred to as the source language and the target language.
